Another site I started is filetager.com, which keeps up with your physical file folders the way Delicious keeps up with your bookmarks. For instance, consider the folder for my 2006 business tax return. In traditional alphabetical filing, should I file it under ‘2006′, ‘business’ or ‘tax’? Using filetager, it assigns it a numerical folder number, say ‘27′ and allows me to add a title and the tags ‘2006′, ‘business’ and ‘tax. Then I can click on the ‘business’ tag and see a list of all the file folders that have to do with my business, or click on the ‘tax’ tag and see a list of all the files having to do with tax filings. Also, because the folders are added in numerical order, you’ll never have to re-shuffle folders from one drawer to another to make room for an inserted folder.
